I'm in over my head.
I've signed up for a lot of projects over the summer. The 2016 Summer Sampler just started on Monday. I paid $20 to sign up (discounted from $25 for signing up early). Each Monday participants are given a block pattern with instructions. We are getting a total of 20 blocks and then we have a few options on how to finish the quilts. At the end, we all share and then I have no idea what happens after that. LOL!

Anyhoo. I still haven't even decided on my fabric yet. And that's how I get in trouble. I've been searching all my fav fabric sites for fabric to use. I've gone to Missouri Star Quilt Company, Shabby Fabrics, Fat Quarter Shop and Craftsy. I also have a few favorite shops on Etsy.

Yowie! I had no idea how expensive quilting was! When I was little there was a quilting group that met at our church. The women would gather and sit around this giant (it may have been giant because I was little) table thing. I think the table had no top, just a frame. The women would cut squares of fabric from left over fabric, and then sew some stuffing material between the two squares. I think they did this at home. Then, they'd meet at church and sew the squares together (mind you this was all by hand - I never remember seeing a machine, only women with thimbles) in to sections an then, connect the sections together to make a quilt. I remember thinking this was boring, but now I think that we need more of these. The community aspect: sitting, sewing, and being social. I wish I had one of these quilts. One more quilt story. We used to have a quilt that I think my dad's mom or aunt made. I loved it because it was soft and so very heavy and warm. To this day I have two (store bought) quilts on my bed to recreate the feeling of that quilt.

I would LOVE to sew a quilt just for you (I 100% machine quilt)! I love doing it for people who can appreciate it. And yes, it's a very expensive hobby. I just had a class today. There were five of us in the class and the teacher. We created folded log cabin blocks. Very interesting. Plus, I have way over-extended myself for the next month. LOL! I'm gonna be a sewing fool.
