Gold Coast Weekend

Mr. Smith had a business meeting in Brisbane on Monday morning, so we decided to make a weekend of it.  We flew to the Gold Coast on Friday afternoon and arrived in Surfer's Paradise at about 4pm.  We stayed at the QT Gold Coast.  It was a very nice hotel.  Everyone on staff made us feel welcome and the room was comfortable.  I highly recommend it.  Here are the first views we had from the hotel:

This was a palm tree outside the hotel.  I don't remember seeing a palm tree quite like this before.

After checking in, we decided to head down to the beach.  There was a little arts & crafts fair on the boardwalk.  It wasn't very big, but nice to see what was on display.  If you know me, you know that walking around looking at what's on display at an arts & crafts fair is right up my alley.  :)

The beach had a lot of these blue lights around.  It was nice!

One of the signs on the beach.

There was a British sweets shop in the Cavill Mall.
I don't know what these taste like, but they certainly caught my attention.

These are the benches in Surfer's Paradise.
This was a giant condom shop.  Everything I could see had a dildo on it.  LOL

This was a haunted house.  We had planned to go there on Sunday, but then we did the whole day whale watching cruise and were both exhausted.  Guess we'll just have to go back.  :)

At the Haunted House.

Our new friends...

Dinner at an Italian restaurant.  It wasn't too bad, except Mr. Smith ordered the lasagna and
there was spinach in it.  Like LOTS of spinach.  I don't know who told them
that spinach has a place in lasagna.

We were planning on doing the Sling Shot, but again... our Sunday got
all rearranged and we were simply too tired.  Old age...  LOL

One of the entrances to Surfer's Paradise beach.

I noticed this seagull while eating breakfast.  Hey, everyone's gotta eat.

What's bubble 'n squeak?  Anyone?

The lovely beach

Mr. Smith insisted that I buy a pair of shorts and some sandals.
It was warmer than I thought it would be and I had only packed long jeans.

Seagull on the beach.

A lot of seagulls on the beach.  :)

Looking up at the moon from the beach.

Pear Cider Beer

Hog's Breath Cafe for dinner on Saturday night

We went whale watching on Sunday morning.  This photo was off the back of the boat.

Me sticking my head in a pirate head.  Thought you may enjoy this.  :)

Vegas in Paradise
Mr. Smith commented that Surfer's Paradise reminded him of Las Vegas.

  1. Those are great pictures. I will have to look on a map to where to Brisbane is in relation to you! It looks beautiful also!

    Condem shop? Crazy - :)

    Love your new shoes!!!

It must have been vegetable lasagna - I have made it with spinach before (but they should have told him about it!!)

Have a great Labor Day weekend - but they may not have that down under?!

    1. Thanks, Maria. You should look for Surfer's Paradise on the map. It's south of Brisbane about an hour by car. And unfortunately, there is no Labor Day here. At least not on Monday. I'm really not sure if they have their own Labor Day or not. So far I just arrive at work every morning unless they tell me not to because I don't know when they have holidays. LOL
